Bengaluru has emerged as the foremost consumer of home appliances and televisions during the Diwali festive season nationwide, according to Amazon India, the global e-tailer. Amazon’s Indian arm stated that the city has witnessed a threefold surge in demand for large appliances and televisions compared to the same season in 2016, establishing it as the country’s primary consumer. Additionally, Karnataka has secured the position of the second-largest state for customer demand in this category.
Expressing appreciation for Karnataka’s significance as a leading market, Suchit Subhas, Category Leader for Large Appliances and Automotive at Amazon India, acknowledged the overwhelming customer demand the company continues to experience. The cultural capital of Mysuru, along with tier-II cities like Belagavi, Hubballi, and Dharwad, contributes significantly to the heightened customer demand in the state.
Digital payments play a substantial role in transactions, with approximately 65% of purchases in Karnataka and Bengaluru being conducted through digital means. Described as India’s digital epicenter, customers in these regions have increasingly adopted digital payment methods, as noted by the company.
Among the notable purchases in large appliances and TVs are Bosch and IFB front load washing machines, 32-inch TVs from TCL and BPL, and popular brands such as Samsung and Whirlpool for refrigerators, along with Voltas for air conditioners, all experiencing remarkable traction.
