As part of its Make in India initiative, LG has inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for side-by-side refrigerators in Pune, India. This facility complements LG’s existing production of single-door and double-door refrigerators in Pune and represents an investment of approximately Rs 200 crore in the refrigerator manufacturing plant.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Hyun Uk Lee, Global Refrigerator President at LG Electronics; Hong Ju Jeon, Managing Director of LG Electronics India; and Hyoung Sub Ji, Director of Home Appliances and Air Conditioners at LG Electronics India.
With this expansion, the upgraded LG campus in Pune has the capacity to produce 200,000 side-by-side refrigerators annually. In addition to refrigerators, the Pune facility manufactures various consumer products, including smart TVs, washing machines, monitors, and air conditioners.
During the inauguration event, LG showcased different models of side-by-side refrigerators, priced between Rs 1,20,699 and Rs 2,27,099. Additionally, LG India’s official website offers special deals, allowing customers to acquire a new LG side-by-side refrigerator for as low as Rs 99,990.
The featured LG side-by-side refrigerator series for 2023 incorporates advanced technology, including LG ThinQ, enabling users to remotely control various refrigerator functions. These refrigerators utilize AI to comprehend user behavior and optimize power consumption accordingly.
The 2023 edition of the LG InstaView refrigerator boasts a 23% larger InstaView window, allowing users to peek inside without opening the refrigerator door. Activating InstaView is as simple as knocking twice on the tinted glass. This model also features a water dispenser with UVnano technology, using UV light to eliminate 99.99% of bacteria from the water nozzle.
To ensure the freshness of stored food items, the InstaView refrigerator includes a Hygiene Fresh air filter, certified by TUV Rheinland to eliminate 99.99% of bacteria. LG offers a total of 15 SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) for its side-by-side refrigerator lineup, and these models will be available through both online and offline retail channels across the country.
